'Chelsea Brutally Mocked For 'New Signing' Twitter Announcement

Chelsea have been brutally trolled for announcing a 'new signing' - despite it being for a new shirt partner.

The club took to Twitter to announce connectivity company Three were set to become shirt partners starting from next season.

However, the accompanying tweet is what has annoyed Chelsea fans with the caption reading:

'You wait 24 days for a signing and then Three come along at once!'

Frank Lampard's side haven't made a signing this season after serving the remainder of their transfer ban in the summer.

Fans were hoping for arrivals in this window and the faux announcement has social media furious.

'The Blues' are currently fourth in the Premier League and six points ahead of Manchester United in the final Champions League place.

But they haven't hit top form since the start of the new year and have lost to Newcastle and drawn with 10 man Arsenal in the last week.

When asked about signings last week, Lampard stated he's in no rush to make his first Chelsea signing and wants it to be the right fit.

"I think the idea of January being a time to buy players, it's difficult for everybody: for players coming in - especially if they're coming from a different league - for the club and for the settlement of the group. I think that's why we have to think ultra-carefully.

"I don't want to make some kneejerk reaction to say: 'Here's my first big signing' because we couldn't sign anyone in the summer. No, I want to do the right thing for the club.

"That's why if I do it I'll try to consider all things. Hopefully it's the best thing for us. Whether that's more of a short-term option or a long-term option, we'll also have to consider."

PSG's wantaway striker Edinson Cavani has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in recent days.

Do you think Chelsea will make any signings this month?
