Barcelona 'haven't contacted City' over Cancelo transfer & want to renew Semedo

Barcelona hasn't made any move on City's right-back Joao Cancelo, but both Semedo & Cancelo's agent are Jorge Mendes. Barca & Semedo's contract renewal is stalling right now.

Cancelo had been linked with Barcelona when he was at Valencia, and Cancelo's agent Mendes wants to bring the Portuguese full-back out of Man City, and the possibility of a Semedo-Cancelo swap has arisen, as Telegraph reported yesterday.

But Barca want to renew Semedo's contract and sees it as a priority on right back position.

Mendes, also the agent of Semedo, had offered Semedo to Atletico Madrid last season, but Atleti were unwilling to pay the high asking price of Barcelona.

Barca signed Semedo on 2017 with a 5-year contract for €30m and the fee would be paid for 5 years. Barca has paid 3/5 of it. But there was an agreement that Barca will pay Benfica €5m each time Semedo plays 50 games (at least 45 mins played in a single game) for Barca. Semedo has played 93 games, and if he plays another 7 games, Barca will pay another €5m. However, Barcelona could cancel the agreement by renewing Semedo's contract.
