Madrid 'delay their planned move for Mbappe by a year due to coronavirus crisis'

Real Madrid have delayed their planned move for Kylian Mbappe by a year due to the coronavirus crisis, according to reports.

The Spanish giants were plotting a move to bring their long-term target to the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer window yet the current situation means that will be difficult.

There is no football being played in Europe's major leagues and little income going into the coffers, meaning it will be difficult to snap up targets.

And that is the same at Real, who decided to make the France international their top target going into this summer after he suggested he could leave PSG in the future.

But they have now accepted they will not be able to push through a move for him until the end of the 2020-21 campaign, when their finances will improve.

Spanish outlet AS have reported, though, that they will be boosted by the fact that his valuation will drop from £189million to around £132m.

There is expected to be a huge dip in the market due to the pandemic and Mbappe's unwillingness to extend his deal in Paris.

He will have just one year left on his contract next summer, with his current deal set to expire in 2022.

PSG manager Thomas Tuchel has also admitted it could be difficult to keep hold of the 21-year-old.

He said: 'As a coach, I do want them to continue, but this is football, we are not naive.

'Many clubs want to transfer many players and the market is crazy, but if you ask me, the coach, yes, I want them here next season. But if they are not, we will find solutions.'

Mbappe also recently discussed his future: 'It's very important moment for me, I come to a turning point in my career.

'I have discovered a lot here, and I feel it is perhaps the moment to have more responsibility.

'I hope that can maybe be at Paris Saint-Germain, that would be a great pleasure, or perhaps elsewhere with a new project.'
