Madrid 'identify Kane as target in summer with Zidane keen on Spurs striker'

Real Madrid are targeting Harry Kane ahead of next season, according to reports.

The Santiago Bernabeu side are looking to improve their squad when the 2019-20 campaign ends and believe Spurs striker Kane is the perfect man to sign in the summer.

According to Spanish outlet OK Diario, they are aware that it will be difficult to prise him from the north London side.

But they are desperate for a new player up front after Luka Jovic's struggles since joining last summer.

And Zinedine Zidane wants them to make a move – with Florentino Perez identifying Kane as the right man.

The 26-year-old is under contract at Spurs until 2024 and chairman Daniel Levy is known as a tough negotiator when it comes to his star assets.

Manager Jose Mourinho is also not keen to sell and views Kane as crucial to his plans going forward

.That said, the England star did admit in a recent question and answer session on Instagram Live that he was open to a move in the right circumstances.

'Obviously I get asked this question a lot,' he said when Jamie Redknapp asked him if he would stay at Spurs long-term. 'It's one of those things – I couldn't say yes and I couldn't say no.

'I love Spurs, I'll always love Spurs but I've always said if I don't feel we're progressing as a team or going in the right direction, I'm not someone to stay there for the sake of it.

'So it's not a definite I'm going to stay there forever but it's not a no either.'
