'Liverpool City Council Confirm Liverpool Premier League Title Parade

By Mike Parrott

Liverpool City Council have confirmed that Liverpool will be able to have their open-top bus parade after winning their first-ever Premier League title. The date is yet to be confirmed however due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Liverpool will get a parade to celebrate the club's first Premier League title in 30 years.

The Reds were confirmed as champions yesterday after second placed Manchester City lost to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, meaning no team can catch Liverpool's points tally with seven games of the season left.

Liverpool City Council have told the Liverpool ECHO that Liverpool will get a title parade, albeit not for a while due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

"We are looking at plans on how a title win can be celebrated fully and would honour the club's and fan's ambitions to have a parade - this will only happen when it is safe to do so, lockdown restrictions have eased and the infection rate of the virus has been reduced."

The council believe that even with the reduced 1m social distancing rules, a parade would be impossible to police safely.

Liverpool police and council have asked Liverpool fans to stay inside and to respect the current lockdown rules enforced by UK government. This comes after thousands of Liverpool fans were out last night celebrating their first-ever Premier League title.

Any potential title parade will not take place this summer and could even run into next year.
