The equivalent of giving an NBA big man the open three. A brilliant decision to which no stat can do justice, but one that is just VVD living up to all the Hype. 🙌 pic.twitter.com/ILS6WhUevF
CB: Virgil Van Dijk
LB: Andy Robertson
CM: Steven Gerrard
CM: Xabi Alonso

The Manchester United legend missed out a few big names in Liverpool Premier League history including former Ballon D'Or winner, Michael Owen. Fernando Torres also misses out on the XI after leading Liverpool to 2nd place in 2008/09 and coming third in the 2008 Ballon D'Or.

When asked about missing out Torres, Rooney said:
"Luis Suarez, for me, is one of the best strikers in Premier League history. I know he wasn't there long but he was the start of a change in mentality in Liverpool, bringing passion and fight, and maybe nastiness sometimes, but certainly a winning edge. He was a great goalscorer and I loved watching him."
Current players Mane, Firmino, Salah, Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk, Robertson, and Alisson make the team. Firmino makes the team as the Attacking Midfielder albeit not playing in that position under current Manager Jurgen Klopp.
Rooney also went out of his way to praise Carragher saying:
"It was between him [Carragher] and Sami Hyypia but Carra's leadership was key. Stevie Gerrard was Liverpool's captain but I imagine Carra was captain alongside him, in the dressing room and on the pitch."
