'Virgil Van Dijk Shouted 'You're Getting F***ing Lazy' At Liverpool Forwards In 90th Minute

Virgil van Dijk displayed his elite mentality in Liverpool's 3-1 win over Brighton last night.

The Dutchman, who won last year's PFA Player of the Year Award, has been a hugely influential figure in the Reds' recent successes.

Not only his calming presence at the back, the former Southampton defender has proved to be a great leader and drove the standards at the Anfield club.

And a prime example came last night when he berated Liverpool teammates for not working hard and pressing from the font late on.

It was in the 90th minute, with the newly crowned Premier League champions already 3-1 up and yet Van Dijk was heard by journalist Sam Cunningham going mad at the forwards, shouting: "Come on boys you're getting f***ing lazy!"

Jurgen Klopp has described his team as "f***ing mentality monsters" and Van Dijk lived up to that tag last night by demanding the absolute best.

In the same game, Liverpool's No.4 showed he could play at the back on his own after the most effortless piece of defending in the second half.

Van Dijk beat Aaron Connolly in a footrace before heading the ball to himself and finishing of the sequence with a nonchalant no-look pass.

Liverpool were 2-0 up ten minutes into the game at the AMEX Stadium after goals from Mohamed Salah and Jordan Henderson in quick succession.

Brighton pulled one back through Leandro Trossard before half-time, though Salah would add a second in the 76th minute to move Liverpool onto 92 points for the season.

The Reds now need three wins from their remaining four games to set a new record for the most points accrued in a single Premier League season.
