'Carlo Ancelotti Exposes Theory That Adapting To The Premier League Is Difficult

Carlo Ancelotti has backed James Rodriguez to adapt well to the Premier League following his brilliant debut for Everton on Sunday.

Rodriguez starred for Everton against Tottenham as he impressed on his first appearance since his transfer from Real Madrid.

He showed off his range of passing in attack as Everton beat Spurs 1-0 with the Colombian in excellent form.

And Ancelotti, who managed Rodriguez at Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, says the 29-year-old will face no issues adapting to English football.

What's more, the veteran Italian manager actually believes that adapting to the Premier League is an overstated concept.



Speaking after his side's victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, he exclaimed: "He has no problem to adapt to the Premier League because we are now playing a different sport!

"It's football, the pitch is the same everywhere."

The Everton boss added: "But he has to adapt to his new team-mates and know their movements and his team-mates have to adapt to know his quality better.

"He did four days of training and his performance was outstanding. This is what he can do on the pitch."

Rodriguez started in attack alongside Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who scored the only goal of the game.

Summer arrivals Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure also performed well on their first outing for their new club.

The Toffees face Salford City in the EFL Cup on Wednesday before resuming their Premier League campaign against West Brom on Saturday.
