Jurgen Klopp has been left red-faced after a fan exposed that Liverpool's starting XI cost more than Chelsea's.
But Reds boss Klopp caused quite the stir ahead of the new season after he called out other Premier League clubs for lavishly spending in the summer.
Klopp, 53, staunchly defended Liverpool's lack of business in the window and said not all Premier League clubs are 'owned by countries' or 'owned by oligarchs.'
Twitter user Akio Fernandes has now posted the starting XIs from both Chelsea and Liverpool's first matches in the league this season.
According to the fan, the Liverpool starting XI that featured the likes of Alisson and Virgil van Dijk cost a whopping £353m.

Chelsea's XI, which beat Brighton 3-1 at the Amex on Monday night, cost only £307m in comparison to Liverpool's £353m-valued XI.
Frank Lampard's side even included summer signings Kai Havertz and Timo Werner.
The Chelsea boss has hit back at Klopp by suggesting that the Blues' summer spending spree is only following the example Liverpool set with their business over the past few windows.
"The reality is -- other than maybe Leicester, which was an incredible story -- most clubs that win the league in the modern day have recruited well and have recruited at quite a high level money-wise," Lampard said.
"You can go through the Liverpool players: [Virgil] Van Dijk, Alisson, Fabinho, [Naby] Keita, [Sadio] Mane, [Mohamed] Salah. Incredible players that came at a very high price. Liverpool have done it over a period of time.
"What we have done is come off the back of a ban and probably try to address the situation to help improve us. We know that Liverpool have spent at a high level.
"We know they have an incredible coach. We know they have incredible players.
"The really smart thing Liverpool have done is believe in their coach and believe in their system for a number of years. It's a great story but it's a story where they've spent money on players."
