'Timo Werner’s Response To Playing Against Brighton Defenders In Chelsea's 3-1 Win Is Just Brilliant

Chelsea new boy Timo Werner hilariously admitted that he has never played against such "massive defenders" after his side beat Brighton 3-1.

The Blues completed their stunning acquisition of the 24-year-old German striker after activating his £47.5 million release clause.

And Werner tasted his first dose of life in the Premier League as Chelsea travelled to the Amex for their first league match of the season.

Speaking after the match, the former RB Leipzig star was surprised by how big the opposition defenders were in the match.

"Yeah, Premier League is different football because I think defenders... I have never played against three defenders like this so tall, so big massive defenders," Werner said.

"But the game, for me, it makes it really fun. Especially in the first half, I have a lot of space where I can do my runs."

Fans loved Werner's reaction to life in the Premier League and flooded Twitter with responses to the post-match interview.

New Chelsea captain Jorginho opened the scoring in the first half after firing home from the spot-kick.

Kepa Arrizabalaga, who has been heavily criticised ahead of the new season, was once again placed in the firing line after failing to stop Leandro Trossard's goal in the second half.

However, Reece James would restore Chelsea's advantage by scoring an incredible 35-yard screamer.

Frank Lampard's men sealed all three points after Kurt Zouma's volleyed effort, which took a flick off Adam Webster's boot, beat Matt Ryan.
