Just when you thought Kemar Roofe had scored the best long-range goal of this year's Europa League, Jordi Gomez went one better.
The former Wigan Athletic and Sunderland midfielder is now 35 years of age but is still going strong and scored an absolute peach from his own half for Omonia Nicosia against PSV Eindhoven.
After a foul went in favour of his team, the Spaniard demonstrated some remarkably quick thinking to take a free-kick after spotting the goalkeeper off his line.
He then did his best impression of former Latics teammate Maynor Figueroa by unleashing an outrageous 56-metre effort that looped over the goalkeeper.
STOP THAT RIGHT NOW!

56 - The goal scored by Jordi Gómez for Omonia Nicosia against PSV was from a distance of 56 metres, the furthest distance ever for a goal scored in the UEFA Europa League, beating last week's record by Kemar Roofe (@RangersFC) Madness. pic.twitter.com/ga04xOn3qT

It comes just a week after Roofe conjured up a stunning 92nd minute strike from the halfway line as Rangers ran out 2-0 winners away at Anderlecht.
That is sensational! 😲

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard waxed lyrical over the goal and said it was the best he had ever seen in the flesh.
"I've been lucky enough to watch it five or six times since the end of the game and it's the actual build-up and preparation before the strike," he told BT Sport.
"He knocks two people off the ball with sheer strength on a very difficult pitch in the worst conditions I've seen.
"Then he manages to take someone on - and to then have the vision and audacity to try the strike in the first place, I just think that's a moment of genius.
"And it's probably the best goal I've seen live - and I've been a professional since 1998. Unbelievable strike and he deserves all the plaudits for it."
However, it's Gomez who wins the competition when it comes the distance. His effort is officially the longest in the history of the Europa League.
Being honest, we had completely forgotten about Gomez and what a tidy player he was back in the day but props to the FA Cup winner for proving he's still got it with tonight's screamer.
