'Sky Sports And BT Sport Both Want £14.95 Pay-Per-View Premier League Football Nixed

Sky Sports and BT Sport want pay-per-view Premier League football to be stopped.

The Premier League recently announced the introduction of select top-flight games not already on the air costing £14.95 in a decision that was supported by every club in the division except Leicester City, who rejected the proposal.

So far pay-per-view fixtures have included Newcastle United vs Manchester United, Aston Villa vs Leeds and Liverpool vs Sheffield United but instead of forking out to watch the game, a plethora of fans have been boycotting and donating the funds to charities and food banks.

It's believed that viewing figures for matches through box office and not the usual subscriptions have been a disappointment and now it's emerged that the broadcaster airing these games are not even in favour.

"Sky is not happy to be involved in showing the pay-per-view games," a Sky source told The Mirror.

"We never thought it was a good idea and nothing's changed since it started.

"It is damaging the reputation of Sky Sports to be linked to this scheme - and that feeling is shared at BT. Everyone here would prefer for it to stop."

When the Premier League returned in June, all games were televised live through Sky, BT, BBC and Amazon - with some even made free-to-air.

But with no fans allowed in stadiums, Premier League chiefs decided to implement the extra charge for the five fixtures not already selected.

Staggeringly, following on from the addition of 170 pay-per-view games, it's been revealed it'll cost £3399 to watch every game live this season.
