'Marcelo Bielsa Demands Premier League Blocks Fans Returning To Stadiums Until All Can Reopen

Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa wants the Premier League to block fans returning to stadiums until ALL 20 clubs can reopen their gates.

10 top flight teams, including Manchester United, Manchester City and Leeds, will still play in an empty stadium under the new coronavirus tier system.

Clubs in London as well as English champions Liverpool can have up to 2,000 fans return to their grounds.

But 'El Loco' is against idea of fans returning to stadiums until everyone can.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, he said: "If fans are not allowed in all stadiums, then they should not be allowed until everyone can.

"Clubs shouldn't have to deal with the consequences of being in a category.

"It should be about trying to maintain the competition as equally as possible.

"The presence of fans has an effect on the result.

"Places with a higher risk of infection will be penalised but they should not be punished for that."

Steve Bruce echoed Bielsa's sentiment, saying Liverpool and the London clubs will have an advantage as they welcome back fans to their homes.

"Being in Tier 3 is a kicking. It will give the Liverpool and London clubs an advantage," said the Newcastle United manager, who'll be without fans at St James' Park.

Though not everyone agrees with Bielsa and Bruce as Crystal Palace gaffer Roy Hodgson played down the effect of having fans back in grounds.

He said: "I don't honestly think the 2,000 fans are going to be able to create enough problems to disturb the away team."

West Ham vs. Man United on December 5 will be the first Premier League match with fans this season.
