Gossip: Man Utd, City can’t wait for £65m Haaland

Manchester United and Manchester City are expected to battle over a move for Erling Haaland in the coming months.

The 20-year-old is regarded as Europe’s outstanding young goalscorer having scored 33 goals in just 26 starts since Borussia Dortmund signing him last January. That is one of many ridiculous Haaland statistics.

Manchester City are planning for life without Sergio Aguero, with the Argentine’s contract out at the end of the season and no news of talks over a new deal for the injury-plagued legend.

And United’s admiration of Haaland is well known, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer having worked with his fellow countryman at Molde and a reported failed attempt to sign him when he left RB Salzburg for Germany.

Haaland’s release clause – thought to be in the region of £65million – does not kick in until 2022.

But Dortmund could well look to cash in on their star player before then and receive true market value rather than what currently seems like it would be a bit of a steal. And both Manchester clubs are willing to stump up more cash to avoid missing out, according to the Daily Mail.

But they will not be alone in their interest with Real Madrid among those also linked with a move.
