Koke was frank in his assessment of Atletico Madrid's showing in Saturday night's derby defeat to Real Madrid at Valdebebas.
Los Blancos dealt Atletico their first loss in 26 league games through an opener from Casemiro and an own goal from Jan Oblak.
"It's a tough and difficult defeat," Koke admitted at full time.
"We weren't ourselves at any point in the first half. We got forward more in the second half, there was more space.
"We had a chance with [Thomas] Lemar... if it had gone in then it would've changed the game. That's football. We have to move on. The season is very long and we're still top.
"They played better, they were more intense... especially in the first half.
"Their [first] goal was a set-piece, but these are details that change the game. We have to look at what we didn't do well, improve on it and move forward."
Zinedine Zidane had tipped Atletico Madrid to win LaLiga Santander before the game, which wasn't lost on Koke.
"We're going to go day by day," the Atletico captain added.
"We've got the Copa del Rey on Wednesday. We're only thinking about that.
"It's up to you [the media] to say if we're favourites [for the title] or contenders, whatever you want... We're going to keep going day by day, which is going well for us."
