The Reds were able to emerge victorious over Spurs on Wednesday night thanks to a last-minute winner from Roberto Firmino, a result which took Liverpool top of the table, three points above second-placed Tottenham.
It was evident after the match that Klopp and Mourinho had some words for one another, which the Portuguese explained in his post-match interview.
"I told him [Klopp] the best team lost and he disagreed, but that's his opinion," Mourinho told Amazon Prime Video.
"If I behave the same way he does on the touchline, I do not stay there. That's [only] animated? Do you want me to take the board with the added time from the fourth official's hands and see what happens to me? For some reason I am different."
Klopp then confirmed what Mourinho had said to him, although he thought the former Real Madrid coach was trying to be humorous.
"[Mourinho] didn't say anything to me about my behaviour on the touchline," Klopp said afterwards.
"I thought he said the best team lost. It was not heated at all. I thought he was joking, but he wasn't. So that's it."
