'The Story Behind Liverpool Celebrating A Draw Against West Brom At Anfield In 2015

Five years ago, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp had his side celebrate on the Anfield pitch after a 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion.

The Reds had secured a point thanks to Divock Origi's last-gasp equaliser and Klopp made his players link arms and parade in front of the home fans.

It is a gesture that was mocked at the time as Liverpool hadn't taken all three points against a bottom-half team. But five years on, it feels like a distant memory.

Klopp has an unbreakable bond with the Anfield faithful and explained the celebrations were a thank you.

"It was the best atmosphere since I came here," the German explained per Evening Standard.

"Of course people are disappointed but they didn't let us feel that. They saw that the lads tried everything and played football.

"We stayed in the game, had a few moments where we not so good, but only set plays that cost us.

"If we can do that better then maybe win games more easily."

The draw saw Liverpool move up to ninth in the table and the end of Klopp's first campaign in charge saw them finish eighth.

Coming into this afternoon's clash with the Baggies, Liverpool are current Premier League champions and lead the pack again with just one loss all season.

In the dugout is Sam Allardyce, the last man to defeat Liverpool at Anfield in the league.

'Big Sam' took Crystal Palace to Merseyside on April 23, 2017 and won 2-1 thanks to a Christian Benteke double.

"I haven't got to know him too well, we only met at the sideline and obviously he is very animated and I'm very animated but I respect him a lot," Klopp told Sky Sports News ahead of Sunday's clash.

"West Brom is in a difficult situation and they decided to bring in Sam and he has a proven record in these kind of situations.

"So we are aware of that and it will be a tricky one because, I wouldn't say we are obsessed, but we love to analyse the opponent before a game to know as much as we can."

Liverpool currently lead 1-0 thanks to Sadio Mane's 12th minute strike.
