Frank Lampard has admitted that Billy Gilmour could leave Chelsea on loan during the January transfer window.
Lampard said there are no immediate plans for the youngster to depart Stamford Bridge, but admits that they will keep the 'option open'.
The news comes just after the 19-year-old made his sixth appearance of the season in FA Cup win over Luton.
Lampard said: 'At the moment, he won't go on loan but we will keep it open until the end of the month.'
Gilmour, who joined Chelsea from Rangers back in 2017, broke onto the scene with some impressive displays last term.
However, he has failed to cement a regular place in the first team following the arrival of Chelsea's summer signing.
Regardless of the speculation surrounding his future at Chelsea, Gilmour produced a stellar performance against Luton Town the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday at Stamford Bridge.
Lampard gave Gilmour to opportunity to start in central midfield alongside Mason Mount.
In 90 minutes of football, Gilmour successfully completed 92.6 per cent of his passes and won 100 per cent of his aerial battles.
Lampard praised Gilmour for his performance, saying: 'His comfort on the ball, the way he moved it, his discipline, his personality was great. If he plays like he does today, it makes it very difficult for me not to give him a run. He trains that way too.
'With his youth and the injury he had, and with the difficult run we've been on in the last month, it's been a case of me finding the right time to get Billy in. Today felt like the right time and he was brilliant.'
