Leeds are 'preparing' for Marcelo Bielsa to leave in the summer, despite wanting the manager to remain in charge.
There remains some doubt over the Argentine's future at the club with his contract set to expire at the end of this season.
Chairman Andrea Radrizzani is keen for the eccentric boss to stay but revealed the club are already putting plans in place, should Bielsa decide to leave Elland Road.
The 65-year-old's two-and-a-half year stint in charge is his longest spell as manager anywhere.
Radrizzani told CBS Sports: 'Marcelo knows we are happy with him.
'If he stays, we are really delighted to continue. If the group is happy with him, I am also happy and we should continue.
'So, it's up to him. We wait on his decision but in any case, myself and Victor have already analysed the options and what to do in case Marcelo does not want to be with us.
'We hope he will continue but in any case we are preparing the club. [But] I believe this team is not finished yet, [and] Marcelo as well.
'They need to come and enjoy Elland Road with the fans in the Premier League. It's what he deserves as a manager, and it's a unique experience.'
Bielsea won plenty of plaudits in his first season as Leeds boss, narrowly missing out on promotion, which he then achieved in his season season.
It has been a memorable first campaign back in the top flight and the club have impressed with their attacking brand of football despite occasionally being on the wrong side of a heavy defeat.
Leeds are currently 12th in the table, 10 points clear of the relegation zone.
