Chelsea: Blues receive Haaland update as Inter respond to Lukaku interest

Chelsea transfer news is coming thick and fast with the Blues eager to sign a new striker this summer.

Thomas Tuchel is set to use the upcoming transfer window to reinforce his playing squad, having taken over too late in January to do any meaningful business.

A move for Erling Haaland is believed to be on the cards - though they'll face competition from a number of teams around Europe.

If they can't get him, Manchester City star Sergio Aguero could be looked at as a potential alternative target.

The Argentine will leave the Etihad on a free this summer and could be viewed as a cheaper alternative.

Here's today's latest Chelsea transfer updates.

Tuchel talks Haaland

Chelsea are reportedly set to hold talks with Haaland's agent over a potential move.

But Tuchel didn't want to get drawn into commenting on the matter at his Friday press conference, saying he wanted to respect Borussia Dortmund.

"I will not answer that out of respect for the player and Borussia Dortmund," he said.

"There is big news around him and his agent. It seems like they are creating a race for the player and I will fully accept this a player for Borussia Dortmund, a promising player of course.

"But he isn't our player and is not in our squad. So we will not comment on anything else regarding Haaland.”

Inter respond to Lukaku interest

Another player Chelsea are said to be lining up if they fail to sign Haaland is a forward they let go of in 2014 for £28million - Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgian has been thriving at Inter Milan, and is under contract until 2024 at the San Siro.

And Inter are clearly reluctant to consider letting him go, with reports suggesting they will ask for £102m for their star man.

Considering Haaland would likely cost up to £50m more, Lukaku could still be the cheaper target of the two.

Haaland's transfer stance

Haaland himself is apparently leaning towards a move to La Liga this summer, despite heavy interest from the Premier League.

The Norwegian wonderkid would apparently prefer to join either Barcelona or Real Madri instead of moving to England.

Haaland's father met with both Spanish clubs on Thursday to discuss terms, and it is believed that they will also meet with a number of Premier League teams over the weekend.
