Hunt says Chiefs should have gotten a point

Gavin Hunt felt his Kaizer Chiefs side deserved at least a draw in their 2-1 DStv Premiership home loss to Cape Town City on Wednesday.

Kearyn Baccus netted for the AmaKhosi to bring them back into the game after Tashreeq Morris and Surprise Ralani scored for City, but Hunt’s side succumbed to a seventh league loss of the season to dent their top eight hopes.

"I’m disappointed with the result," Hunt said. "I thought we deserved a draw. It didn't come but you know we are on the backfoot in the first half. It’s disappointing.

"We've led games this year and we've thrown it away. We should have got a point here tonight, that's for sure. The final ball let us down. They also had chances but all-in-all we looked a bit heavy-legged. So it wasn't good.”

Next up for Chiefs is a massive clash away at league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns on Sunday, which will at least be a chance for redemption, though he says the fixture will be no more important than any other.

"Every game is important. From the start. So it’s no different. We've got to regroup now and go again on Sunday. Lots of work to do."

Chiefs are currently in 11th, two points behind eighth-placed Baroka FC with a game in hand.
