Liverpool striker Divock Origi came in for plenty of stick in 2019, when football fans pointed out that he went down in pain - but holding the wrong leg - after apparently being fouled by Victor Lindelof.
Manchester United's league game against their rivals back in October 2019 burst into life in the 36th minute when Marcus Rashford put Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side ahead after an excellent counter-attack.
Wild celebrations were soon halted as referee Martin Atkinson called on VAR to check a foul on Origi by Lindelof in the build up. Much to the annoyance of the visitors, the foul wasn't deemed obvious enough to overturn the goal.
There were suggestions that Origi made a lot of the contact, which may have gone in his favour, and one United fan took to social media to suggest the Belgian was trying to oversell the incident and in doing so held the wrong leg in pain.
If you’re gonna complain about a ‘foul’ in the lead up to the goal, at least hold the correct leg that’s been tapped. Muppet. #MUNLIV pic.twitter.com/L7YUTdoIDO

Said this yesterday. He's took a bad touch and dived. The slight touch from Lindelof (which wasn't nearly enough to send him over) almost bailed him out but he was diving either way. https://t.co/IPDWW0STf0

It wasn't the first time there was controversy over VAR's use in a goal during a Liverpool game in the 2019/20 season (which belatedly ended with the Reds lifting the Premier League title by a massive margin).
Against Leicester on October 5, Jurgen Klopp's side were given a 95th-minute penalty after a foul on Sadio Mane.
The incident was checked by VAR and stood, despite the Foxes complaining there was minimal contact on the forward and he seemed to go down later than he should.
Leicester fans also pointed out that Mane had also held the 'other' foot to the one contact was made with.
Total waffle fro a ref protecting his mate and a Liverpool fan in Warnock.

The touch is on Mane’s left ankle, instead of planting his right leg on the floor, he chooses to fall over screaming and holding the wrong leg.
That’s not a foul. It’s conning a penalty. https://t.co/Q8G8U6LQso
Lol Mane dived here and the contact on his left leg is not enough for him to go down man even grabs the wrong leg after falling that should tell you everything https://t.co/93A29ZCza0

Mane actually went down holding the wrong leg and people are still saying it was a penalty. 😂 #MOTD

Certainly the foul on Origi against Man United looked more clear-cut than a possible dive by Mane and Klopp's team could probably justifiably feel hard done by.
The eventual 1-1 draw with United ended their perfect start to the season and stopped Liverpool from equalling Manchester City's 18-match winning run. Although it didn't interrupt a dominant, title-winning season.
Origi came into the side for the injured Mo Salah and despite the Belgian's heroics in the Champions League semi-final and final in 2018/19, it's likely the Egyptian would have had more of an impact of the game.
But at least Origi gave both sets of fans plenty to talk about post-match with his odd reaction to Lindelof's challenge.
