'Wolves And Southampton Crown Themselves As Premier League Champions Amid European Super League

Wolves and Southampton have crowned themselves as former Premier League champions following on from the controversial announcement of a European Super League.

Incensed by the actions of the so-called "big six', Premier League clubs are holding a meeting today amid calls for the leading sides to be banned from the competition.

Many have even said the clubs involved as founding members of the breakaway league should have their titles taken off them.

And both Wolves and Southampton are not messing about. Earlier today on Tuesday morning, Wolves awarded themselves the 2018/19 Premier League with a brilliant tweet that showed they had changed their bio on Twitter.

In their second season in the Premier League under Nuno Espirito Santo, where Manchester City retained their title, Wolves finished seventh and qualified for the Europa League.

But dismissing the Premier League's top six, they were the highest-ranked side and so reckon the title is rightfully theirs.

Southampton followed that up by doing the same, calling themselves the 2014/15 champions and congratulating Wolves in a tongue-in-cheek post.

The Saints also finished in seventh in the aforementioned season, where Chelsea were the champions under Jose Mourinho.

Over in Spain, Real Betis removed ESL founding clubs Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and Barcelona from the league table on the homepage on their website.

Instead, the Andalusian outfit were bumped into to third from fifth and their rivals Sevilla were top of the table.

Leeds United poked fan at the ESL and last night's opponents Liverpool when they referred to them as 'Merseyside Reds' - a PES name for the club many moons back - in the wording for the match report on Twitter.
