'Liverpool's League Record Since March Blows Europe's Elite Out The Water

Liverpool's form over the last nine months has blown every other elite team out of the water.

Jurgen Klopp's side are currently eight points clear at the top of the Premier League and arguably haven't hit top gear yet.

Sky Sports offered an insight into how dominant 'The Reds' have been by comparing their record to other teams across Europe.

Liverpool haven't lost in the league since they were defeated 2-1 by Manchester City back in January.

Since then, their only dropped points came in a 1-1 draw against Manchester United in October.

The closest team to matching their record is Barcelona.

Ernesto Valverde's side have amassed 61 points in 27 games, meaning they still fall 12 points short of Liverpool's haul with two more games played.

Liverpool also decimated the Catalan giants 4-0 at Anfield in last season's Champions League to offer further insight.

The team closest in England is Pep Guardiola's Man City side who have earned 59 points in 25 games.

Many believed this season would have seen another tight battle at the top between Liverpool and City but the current champions have faltered.

Injuries have ravaged City's defence and they sit third, 14 points behind 'The Reds'.

Guardiola has admitted his side could be out of the title race already and has suggested they can't compete with the world's elite.

He told Sky Sports following Saturday's 2-1 derby defeat to Manchester United:

"United have the quality to defend and the quality to attack on the counter-attack and you have to accept that.

"That is the level we face, against Liverpool, United, Barcelona, Madrid, Juventus - they are the teams we have to face and the reality is maybe we are not able now to compete with them.

"We have to improve and accept it and move forward. Maybe we need to live that as a club to improve, to accept the reality now and improve."

Liverpool certainly have the credentials to be considered the elite standard.
