Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is reportedly ready to quit after seeing no progression at the club.
The Gabon international joined the Gunners in a then club-record £58 million move in 2018 and has scored 53 goals in 83 appearances.
But while the former Borussia Dortmund striker has produced the goods, the team on the whole is underperforming and Aubameyang has now walked away from contract talks such is his desire to leave.
The Mirror say Aubameyang was in negotiations over a contract extension to his current deal, which expires in 18 months, but he is now ready to quit the club for a new challenge in the summer.
He's been named as captain following the debacle with Granit Xhaka and yet the former AC Milan striker wants out as he vies to compete for trophies at the top level.
Managerless Arsenal, who have won just four out of 15 league games this season, cannot fulfil his wishes and with Aubameyang turning 31 next year, he knows he needs to be moving on if he wants to add to the two major honours he has won in his career thus far.
It leaves Arsenal in a difficult position as they may well be forced to let their talisman go in the summer to at least recoup some of the fee they splashed out to land him, or face losing him for nothing a year on.
Arsenal lost their fourth game of the season on Thursday, with the 2-1 defeat to Brighton in Freddie Ljungberg's second game in charge leaving the North London side in 10th place in the league.
