'Bernardo Silva Has More Goals In Two Games At Old Trafford Than Jesse Lingard In Two Seasons

Bernardo Silva's opening goal for Manchester City against Manchester United on Tuesday night means that he's scored more in two games at Old Trafford than Jesse Lingard has in two years.

The two Manchester sides faced in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg on Tuesday night, with United hosting the first part of the tie.

It took City just 17 minutes to take the lead when Silva curled in a brilliant effort from 25 yards out beyond David de Gea.

Silva also scored in the last meeting between the two sides at Old Trafford, in the Premier League last April, and it means that the Portuguese midfielder has scored more at United's home ground than Lingard has in two years.

Lingard didn't score a single Premier League goal in the whole of last year and his only goal in any competition this season came away against Astana, in Kazakhstan, in the Europa League, in a 2-1 loss.

His only other goal in 2019 came away to Arsenal in the FA Cup and his previous three goals came away against Cardiff City, in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first game in charge, and away to Liverpool, in Jose Mourinho's last game in charge.

Lingard's most recent goal at Old Trafford came against Arsenal in December 2018 when he equalised in a 2-2 draw in the league at the Theatre of Dreams.

The 27 year-old also scored in February 2018 against Chelsea at home in the league and those are his only two goals at home in the past two years.

In recent times the former Leicester City loanee has come under a lot of criticism, both from his manager and the fans, for not being good enough.

His lack of goals and assists in the number 10 role or on the wing has left the England midfielder well short of the required levels at United.

He has recently changed agent to Mino Raiola and is expected to leave the club shortly.
