'Erling Haaland Scores A Hat-Trick In Incredible Borussia Dortmund Debut

Erling Haaland made an immediate impact as a Borussia Dortmund player, coming off the bench with Dortmund 3-1 down and scoring a hat-trick as they beat Augsburg 5-3.

He earned a move to Dortmund in January, after brilliant form for Red Bull Salzburg in first half of the season, and started from the bench on Saturday afternoon in the Bundesliga game against Augsburg.

Martin Schmidt's side took a 2-0 lead into half time only for Dortmund to hit back early in the second half, the visitors took their two goal lead back in the 55th minute through Florian Niederlechner and that led Lucien Favre to bring Haaland on.

The 19-year-old scored in the 59th, 70th and 79th minute, with Jadon Sancho scoring in the 61st minute, to bag a hat-trick for himself and help give his side a two goal lead.

The Norwegian caught the attention of everyone in 2019, scoring eight goals in six Champions League games and 16 in 14 in the Austrian league this season, and was courted by Europe's top sides.

Haaland had been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had signed the player when in charge of Molde, but the Red Devils didn't like some of the details involved in the deal and the player chose to move to Germany instead.

A loss would have left Favre's side behind top four chasing rivals Schalke but the turn around left them in fourth and level on points with rivals Bayern Munich.

Ed Woodward and United will be left wondering 'what if?' and considering whether maybe they shouldn't miss out on another target in Bruno Fernandes, with the midfielders move looking in danger.

Dortmund and Haaland are already benefiting from the decision.
