'Manchester United Job Ages Managers By About 20 Years

Being Manchester United manager isn't good for your health. That's based on the pictorial evidence of managers when they take over at the club and when they've left.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer used to be known as the 'Baby Faced Assassin' at Old Trafford in his playing days and even when he returned to the club in December 2018 it was commented on that he still looked as youthful now.

However much has changed in the past 13 months and it now looks like the stresses of the job have caught up with the Norwegian's face.

Solskjaer's team lost to Burnley on Wednesday night meaning they've now lost eight games in the league this season and Sean Dyche's men have won more league games than United since Ole's interim role became permanent in April last year.

However despite his troubles the former Cardiff City manager can take some solace in the fact that he's far from the only one to have aged 20 years in a short amount of time in recent years.

In fact all of the managers since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013 have gone through similar with David Moyes, Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho all looking far worse than the day they arrived.

Moyes' transformation is probably the most startling considering the current West Ham boss didn't even last a full year in control of the team.

He took over from Fergie and was sacked before the end of the 2013/14 season, once defeat to his former side Everton had confirmed United wouldn't be in the following season's Champions League.

Van Gaal lasted two seasons at Old Trafford and did deliver the club back into Europe's elite competition and won the FA Cup but was sacked soon after his cup success.

Jose Mourinho lasted two full seasons, and won the Europa League and League Cup, but his infamous third season syndrome soon set in and he was sacked.

The Spurs boss was always known for his sharp dress sense and style but often looked more like a man going through a midlife crisis at United.

The effect on the four managers since Fergie has made the United job look as stressful as running a country and all four men could have easily been impeached.
