'Liverpool Could Win The Premier League Without Playing Another Game

Liverpool's win against Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon means that they could be Premier League champions without winning another point this season.

Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool fans might have been having a few dark thoughts when Callum Wilson's controversial goal put the Cherries ahead early on Saturday's game, after losing their unbeaten run a week ago against Watford.

But goals before half-time by Mo Salah and Sadio Mane secured all three points for Klopp's side and put them within touching distance of the title, so much so they might not even have to play again.

The three points put the Reds 25 points clear of Manchester City. Pep Guardiola's side play Manchester United on Sunday, then their game in hand against Arsenal on Wednesday and Burnley next Saturday.

Losing all three games would keep them 25 points behind and with only 24 points left to play for. With Liverpool not playing in the league until a week on Monday it would crown them as champions before taking the field against Everton.

It seems highly unlikely that City would fail to win a single point in their next three games, the bookmakers put a treble of losses at 635/1, but it could happen.

Already twice this season City have lost twice to local rivals United and a third loss in Sunday's Manchester derby isn't beyond the realms of possibility.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team are unbeaten in nine games in all competitions and have improved since their back-to-back losses to Liverpool and Burnley in January.

Arsenal are unbeaten in 12 games, haven't lost in 2020 and have the longest unbeaten run in the league right now, after Liverpool's loss to Watford.

Should Guardiola's side lose to United then Mikel Arteta's team will start with even more confidence against their manager's former employer.

The third game is the least likely that City will lose, as they host mid table Burnley, but who knows what the pressure of losing their title will do should they have lost the previous two games.

One draw in the games will mean Liverpool having to win against Everton in the Merseyside derby on March 16th.

Even if City do win their three games in the next week Liverpool need just three games to win the league, that could be against City at the Etihad on April 5th.

When will Liverpool be crowned champions?
