'Premier League Officially Suspended Due To The Coronavirus Outbreak

The Premier League and EFL have officially suspended matches until April 3 due to the coronavirus outbreak.

All 20 Premier League clubs were present via a video-conference call at an emergency meeting on Friday morning where they agreed to postpone the 2019/20 league campaign.

The postponement includes all matches in the Premier League, Championship, League One and League Two, as well as all Academy and youth team fixtures.

Premier League Chief Executive Richard Masters said: "Above all, we wish Mikel Arteta and Callum Hudson-Odoi speedy recoveries, and everyone else affected by COVID-19.

"In this unprecedented situation, we are working closely with our clubs, Government, The FA and EFL and can reassure everyone the health and welfare of players, staff and supporters are our priority."

Premier League joins Serie A, La Liga, Bundesliga and Ligue 1 in being suspended.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta became the first Premier League manager to test positive for coronavirus while Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi became the first player in the league to contract the illness.

UEFA have also postponed all the Champions League and Europa League matches next week, which includes Barcelona vs. Napoli and Bayern Munich vs. Chelsea.
