'Wolves Reportedly Lining Up £71 Million Move For James Rodriguez

Wolverhampton Wanderers could be looking to add James Rodriguez to their team for next season as they reportedly eye up a £71 million move for Real Madrid's out of favour midfielder.

Rodriguez was once one of the biggest talents in football, and earned himself a £63 million move to Real Madrid after the 2014 World Cup but things have never worked out for him.

He is currently out of favour at the Bernabeu and according to reports in Spain Wolves are ready to spend £71 million for the Colombian, with both Marca and Eldesmarque claiming the Premier League side will make a move.

Rodriguez moved to Bayern Munich for two seasons at the beginning of the 2017/18 season, to be reunited with former Real boss Carlos Ancelotti.

The Bundesliga side had the option to make the move permanent for €42 million but he never settled in Germany once Ancelotti was sacked and eventually replaced by Niko Kovac, after Jupp Heynckes was appointed as an interim.

Bayern didn't take up the option to sign him full time at the end of the season and he returned to the Spanish capital but Real weren't able to sell him to anyone else.

Zinedine Zidane isn't a fan of the Colombian midfielder and has only played the former Monaco player seven times in the league, with another two appearances in the Champions League.

Most of those appearances have been off the bench and it seems inevitable that the 28-year-old will leave the Bernabeu as soon as the club can find a buyer.

Wolves have a strong connection to Jorge Mendes, with the club's Chinese owners also holding a stake in the superagent's company, and the Portuguese agent also represents Rodriguez.

A huge signing like buying the 2014 Puskas Award winner would be a statement of intent from Nuno Espirito Santos' team who have continued to impress this season.

The Molineux side have reached the last 16 of the Europa League and currently just five points behind fourth place Chelsea in the Premier League.

With Manchester City potentially banned from European competition next season, subject to their appeal, there's a genuine chance Wolves could be in the Champions League next season.

Let us know if you think Wolves will sign Rodriguez.
