Arsenal considering Lacazette swap deal for Atletico midfielder Partey (Sun)

Arsenal are reportedly willing to offer Alexandre Lacazette in part-exchange for Atletico Madrid's Thomas Partey.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is desperate to land the £50million-rated midfield enforcer this summer, and has made him his primary transfer target.

Atletico are not keen on selling Partey however, and are set to offer him an extension on his current contract, which runs for another three years.

They want to tie the 25-year-old down until at least 2025, as well as boosting his release clause to ward off outside interest.

But The Sun report that Arsenal will try and test the Spanish club's resolve first, by proposing a swap deal involving Lacazette.

Atleti are in the market for a striker and are long-term admirers of the Frenchman.

The move could appeal to Lacazette too, as the 28-year-old has struggled to hold down a regular starting berth for Arsenal.

Much could depend on whether Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang moves on this summer, with his contract situation still up in the air.

It is doubtful Arsenal would allow both their captain and Lacazette to leave the club, though Arteta remains confident he can retain Aubameyang's services.

That would pave the way for Lacazette to leave the club, even though he still has two years remaining on his contract.

Atletico are also keeping tabs on PSG veteran Edinson Cavani, who will be a free agent in the summer.

As well as targeting Partey, Arsenal are also in talks with French club Stade de Reims regarding centre-back Axel Disasi.

Arteta has already seen once approach for the 22-year-old knocked back in December, having been impressed with the youngsters displays in Ligue 1 this season.

Reims are resigned to losing Disasi, who is out of contract in 2021, and they are ready to cash-in on him this summer providing Arsenal can meet their £15m valuation.
