By Mike Parrott

The Premier League will be allowed to show the 3pm games live on TV for the rest of the 2019/20 season in an aid to finish the season amid the current Coronavirus Pandemic. UEFA lifted the blackout with the supposed chance of games being played behind closed doors.

The 3pm blackout has been infamous in English football for a while now. Put in place to keep fans going to the games of lower-league sides, the 3pm blackout is either hated or loved by fans alike.

However, with the current Coronavirus pandemic putting the majority of European football, including the Premier League on hold, UEFA has stepped into hopefully help the Premier League.

A UEFA statement read: "Taking into account the current exceptional circumstances, UEFA has lifted the 'blocked hours' protection granted to the UEFA Member Associations for England and Scotland for the remainder of the 2019/20 football season, following requests from the relevant National Associations as a result of measures taken in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic."

Even though it was confirmed that the Premier League wouldn't return until at least June, The Prem and EFL still remain committed to completing the 2019/20 season. The Premier League especially could lose up to £750 million if no other matches are played.

UEFA have warned that clubs in competitions which it deems have been cancelled prematurely may not be eligible to play in next season's Champions League or Europa League.
