'The 57 Players Out Of Contract On June 30th

Premier League clubs are reportedly worried about players walking out on them come June 30th, with part of the season still to play, and there's 57 players that could apply to.

Last week's report claimed that clubs wanted the season to be finished by the end of June, even if it meant not all the games could be played, to avoid the possibility of players whose contracts are ending just leaving part way through the season.

FIFA are working on a way that clubs could extend deals until the season finishes, whenever it does, but there'd be nothing stopping players going.

According to the Mirror there's 57 players whose contracts are on the verge of running out, with 18 clubs in danger of losing players:

Aston Villa - Borja Baston, Keinan Davis

Bournemouth - Ryan Fraser, Jordon Ibe, Charlie Daniels, Andrew Surman, Simon Francis, Artur Boruc, Brad Smith

Brighton - Beram Kayal, Ezequiel Schelotto

Burnley - Aaron Lennon, Jeff Hendrick, Joe Hart, Phil Bardsley, Adam Legzdins

Speaking to the Mirror about the legal issues of contracts, sports lawyer Simon Leaf said, "Under English law, it wouldn't be possible to force players to continue to play beyond the 30th June date, which has received so much attention recently, nor would it be possible force them into taking wage cuts or deferrals - both of which could be frustrating for many clubs.

"...We could end up seeing clubs not only facing censure from the football authorities but also players legitimately being able to walk away from their contracts and joining other clubs early as a result of such pressure."

Bournemouth are one of the clubs who will most likely want some sort of resolution to the contract issue as they have seven players who could leave for nothing.

The Cherries are still in a relegation fight, currently sitting in the bottom three, and the loss of Ryan Fraser on a free would potentially be the biggest blow of all.

Clubs could have reduced transfer budgets this summer, after the loss of money in the current crisis, and the list could certainly prove popular amongst those teams with limited funds.
