Arsenal's Aubameyang replacement Edouard labelled £20m by ex-Celtic star

Arsenal transfer target Odsonne Edouard will be on his way from Celtic to the Premier League this summer.

That's the verdict of former Hoops player Frank McGarvey, who has seen the striker smash 24 goals for the Scottish Premier League leaders this season.

Arsenal have been linked with a move for the 22-year-old striker, amid continued speculation that top scorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be on his way out of the Emirates this summer.

McGarvey compared Edouard to Gunners and Celtic legend Charlie Nicholas, saying he "has that bit of magic in his feet".

And he reckons the France under-21 striker will be snapped up for £20million this summer - whether that's by Mikel Arteta's side or one of their Premier League rivals.

“I just love watching Edouard. He has that bit of magic in his feet, and he reminds me of Charlie Nicholas,” McGarvey told The Scottish Sun.

“You just know if he gets the ball just outside of the box the other team are in trouble. Edouard has that ability to produce something out of nothing because he has such quick feet.

“I think someone will come in this summer and put £20m on the table for him. You can’t blame Celtic for taking it, especially in the current climate.”

While McGarvey compared him to Nicholas, the former Arsenal midfielder himself said Arteta must "get the whole team right" for Edouard to thrive.

"He could certainly play at Arsenal because the way they play, his style would be more than suitable for it," Nicolas told Sky Sports.

"The problem is getting the judgement right over whether he's ready right now, playing every week for Arsenal compared to who is there already.

"He certainly would not come to England straightaway and score 20 to 25 goals in a season unless Arsenal find a renewed belief and they get the whole team right."
