Leicester defender Chilwell 'tells his agent he wants to join Chelsea in summer'

Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell has reportedly told his agent to make a summer transfer to Chelsea happen.

Left-back is one of the positions Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has not fully set his first-choice on this season.

He has used Emerson Palmieri, Marcos Alonso and even Cesar Azpilicueta throughout the campaign, but none of them have cemented their place thus far.

Both Emerson and Alonso have been linked with Serie A returns, as Chelsea are reportedly looking to bring in a new left-back this summer.

A report from ESPN claimed Leicester’s Chilwell has been top of Lampard’s shortlist since January.

According to a report from Todofichajes, Chelsea have entered negotiations with Leicester over a potential summer transfer for the full-back.

A few other clubs including Manchester City, Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are also reportedly interested.

However, the Blues are in pole position as Chilwell has allegedly told his agent that he would like to continue his Premier League career in London.

The 23-year-old has made 23 Premier League appearances under Brendan Rodgers this term, scoring two goals and providing three assists.

The Foxes are notorious for demanding a big fee for their stars after previously pocketing £80million – a world record fee for a defender (Sky Sports) – when Harry Maguire completed his transfer to Manchester United last summer.

If Leicester demand a similar price, Chelsea might have to wait to sell either Alonso or Emerson to raise sufficient funds.
