Tottenham interested in signing American brothers Taylor and Zach Booth (Mail)

Tottenham have made an enquiry for Bayern Munich midfield prospect Taylor Booth and expressed interest in his younger brother Zach.

Young American Taylor made an impression on Jose Mourinho’s staff last December with a telling contribution as Bayern’s U19s beat Tottenham 3-0 to knock them out of the UEFA Youth League.

The USA U19 international set up two of Bayern’s goals with pinpoint set pieces and came close to adding to his side’s tally as they dominated the midfield.

Taylor was snapped up by Bayern from Real Salt Lake and signed a contract until 2022. He is equally adept in the holding role, as a box to box or attacking midfielder with good technique and an eye for a pass.

The teenager turns 19 at the end of this month and comes from a football-mad family with his parents Chad and Kelli also playing to a high standard in the States.

The genetics have also played a part in the development of younger brother Zach too who is attracting interest from a number of English clubs.

The 16-year-old, who is still at Real Salt Lake’s academy and has been capped by USA at U17 level, underwent a trial at Tottenham prior to Christmas and they are continuing to monitor his progress.

The midfielder captained USA U17s against Spain, England and Denmark during a tournament at St George's Park in February and his driving performances there also alerted scouts from Leicester City, Norwich City and Fulham who are now expressing a strong interest.

Tottenham will be once again mindful of what they spend this summer with many of their targets either young with good re-sale value or free transfers.
