'Bruno Fernandes Had Ex Manchester City Stars Posters On His Bedroom Wall

By Mike Parrott

Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes had posters in his bedroom wall of a former Manchester City great while growing up. Bruno now lives on the same road as the City player and has been spending time with him while in lockdown.

Bruno Fernandes has been nothing but short of amazing in his short tenure at Manchester United. In only 10 appearances in which he has only started nine of them, the Portuguese midfielder already has four goals and four assists to his name and has easily been United's best player since his arrival to Manchester.

However, he seems to have liked Manchester for quite a long time, or well, a certain player who played under the blue-half of Manchester.

Talking to The Athletic, Stephen Ireland has revealed that Bruno Fernandes has told him that he was a massive fan of his when growing up. Ireland, who wont Man City's first Player of the Year award under the Sheikh Mansour-era, was a notable player back then for Manchester City and was seen as their best player before the likes of Yaya Toure, Sergio Aguero, and David Silva.

Ireland told The Athletic:

"He (Bruno Fernandes) told me that, as a kid, he had a poster of me... He said that when he played Football Manager he always signed me. I was like, 'You had me on a poster? And, seriously, you sign me for FM?' I mean, how weird is that?"

Fernandes and Ireland now live on the same road - just three doors apart - following the Portugal midfielder's move to Old Trafford in January and it appears they have become good friends.

During the coronavirus lockdown, Ireland stated that the duo had been helping each other keep fit by training together via social distancing guidelines and that the 25-year-old had even offered to have a 'kick-about' with Ireland and his son Jacob in the future.
