David Luiz accepted full responsibility for Arsenal's 3-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City last night.
Having been left out by Mikel Arteta due to "a few things that happened in recent weeks", the Brazilian replaced Pablo Mari after he pulled up with a hamstring injury 24 minutes in and produced an absolute disasterclass at the Etihad.
He was at fault for the first goal after his miscontrol of the ball allowed Raheem Sterling to score the first goal of the Premier League restart, while his evening went from bad to worse in the second half.
Luiz gave away a fourth penalty in his Arsenal career when he fouled Riyad Mahrez in the box and was subsequently sent off for denying a goalscoring opportunity.
It goes from bad to worse for David Luiz! 😩

Kevin De Bruyne calmly slotted the spot-kick away, with Phil Foden adding a third to hand Arsenal a damaging first league defeat of 2020.
But to his credit, Luiz didn't shy away from his shambolic performance, requesting to do an interview with Sky Sports and taking the blame for Arsenal's latest defeat away at a top six club.
He also discussed his contract coming expiring at the end of the month, as well as he and Arteta both wanting his future to be at the Emirates.
"It's not the teams fault, it was my fault."

David Luiz accepted responsibility for Arsenal's defeat at Manchester City, adding that he wants to stay at the club and Mikel Arteta 'wants me to stay'.
Arsenal fans - should he stay or should he go? 🤔 pic.twitter.com/Z9sPQfEq6b
Respect to @DavidLuiz_4 for fronting up to his own culpability. He was diabolical but at least he knows it & hasn’t tried to hide away.

"It was not the team's fault, it was my fault," the former Chelsea defender told Geoff Shreeves post-match.
"I take the decision to play, I should take another decision in the last two months that I didn't. Today the team did well, especially after we went down to 10 men, the coach is amazing, all the players did amazing, it was just my fault.
"I should have taken a different decision in the last two months, and I didn't, it was all about my contract, if I stay here or not. I have 14 days more to be here and that's it, today it was my fault,' Luiz continued as he implied his contract talks affected his poor performance.
"I should have taken a different decision to decide my future, to try to decide as early as possible, but I didn't. I don't want to use it as an excuse.
"I love to be here, that is why I continue to train hard and I came here today, that is why I try to do everything. It's me, I have to show my face and be here so I want to say, the coach knows, the coach wants me to stay, so it is just we are waiting for the decisions."
Arteta, meanwhile, explained that the 33-year old's future will not be judged on his showing at the Etihad.
"My opinion on David hasn't changed." 🤷♂

With his current one-year deal up on June 30, Arsenal have the option to extend his stay for another year but it remains to be seen whether they will do so.
