'Manchester City's Eric Garcia Carried Off On Stretcher After Horror Collision With Ederson

Manchester City's Eric Garcia left the Etihad Stadium on a stretcher after a horrific collision with teammate Ederson against Arsenal.

City ran out 3-0 winners on Wednesday evening but the 19-year-old's injury will have put a dampener on the victory.

Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno floated a ball into the City half which Ederson decided to leave the area to clear.

However, his eyes were firmly locked on the ball and he was oblivious to Garcia moving in his direction.

Play stopped for up to seven minutes as the Spaniard was treated on the pitch before being taken off.

City then played the remainder of the game with ten men having used their five substitutes prior to Garcia's injury.

Garcia had an impressive game alongside Aymeric Laporte and looks to be a key part of Pep Guardiola's plans for the future.

Guardiola spoke to Sky Sports following the game and stated: "Eric had a fantastic game, he fitted in well, he was composed. It's sad to see him go off like that. At first he looked pretty bad but then looked more like himself."

While City were down to ten men following the incident, their opponents had played most of the second-half a man down thanks to David Luiz.

The Brazilian endured an evening to forget after coming on for an injured Pablo Mari in the first-half.

City opened the scoring just before half-time when Luiz failed to prevent a Kevin De Bruyne pass finding Raheem Sterling.

The 33-year-old's night went from bad to worse as he received his marching orders four minutes into the second-half for hauling down Riyad Mahrez.

City's victory ensures Liverpool will not become Premier League champions on Sunday regardless of their result against Everton.
