'Video Of All Manchester United's Penalties Is Annoying Rival Fans

Manchester United were saved from defeat in their game against Tottenham Hotspur on Friday night by their 11th penalty of the season and rival fans aren't happy at all.

Eric Dier was adjudged to have brought down Paul Pogba in the 81st minute on Friday, after the Frenchman beat him all ends up, and the referee pointed to the spot.

After the match Jose Mourinho wasn't happy at all with the awarding of the spot kick and fans are joining in the dismay at some of the penalties United have been awarded with a compilation video on Twitter going viral.

The original poster also commented "Imagine where United would he without these! Fighting relegation," whilst theKopHQ added, "So many cheap ones & dives."

Fellow Liverpool fan, Liverpool_Fan98, also wasn't impressed, adding, "That Norwich one given by VAR is atrocious. Just imagine if that had been given to us," and considering the table toppers 'LiVARpool' reputation he might just have a point.

50kopyears, yes there's a slight pattern emerging, chimed in to suggest it starts at the top at Old Trafford, saying, "The inevitable conclusion is that they're coached to do it."

Fans were nearly left even more annoyed as United were actually awarded a second penalty on Friday night, late in the game, but VAR correctly overturned the decision on this occasion.

However after the match Spurs boss Mourinho claimed he was upset that it was even given in the first place, saying, "On the first penalty, the referee, Jonathan [Moss] - he made his decision and I agree it's difficult for referees but then the VAR is a different story. Referees can make mistakes but I don't think VAR should make mistakes [in terms of not overruling].

"The second penalty is incredible. It's a foul on Serge Aurier which should kill the situation and then there is a situation in the box [with Fernandes diving]. I feel when the VAR goes for a simulation, the player should be exposed and [given] a yellow card. So I feel really upset with these two decisions but that's the way it is."

Of course United fans in the comments to the video believe that most, if not all, the penalties they've been given have been awarded correctly.

The Champions League place chasing side haven't had the best record with converting their spot kicks, having missed four, but with Bruno Fernandes now on penalty duty they look far more likely to convert.

They now need just two more penalties in the final eight games of their season to break the record for a team in a single Premier League season, with Manchester City closest behind them this season on eight.

Do you think United will break the record? Let us know in the comments.
