Comedian Jack Whitehall has revisited an old joke he made at the expense of Liverpool's Jordan Henderson. Whitehall compared Henderson to Steven Gerrard who was a guest on the TV show, A League of Their Own.
With Jordan Henderson being named as the Football Writers' Player of the Year today and captaining Liverpool to their first Premier League title ever, some people have been reconsidering their initial thoughts regarding Henderson.
Even though Henderson is no way near the level of the midfield greats in the Premier League, and isn't even the best midfielder in the current Premier League, he is no longer the £16 million transfer flop from Sunderland bought in 2011.
Jurgen Klopp congratulates @Jhenderson on being voted Footballer of the Year, after a historic season for @LFC: "A perfect example that a mix of talent and attitude makes the difference. Well deserved, outstanding achievement, still a lot to come. Wow!" #FOTY20 #Henderson #Klopp pic.twitter.com/0y1z89EHX9

Comedian Jack Whitehall once made a joke on the TV show, A League of Their Own at the expense of Henderson when Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard was a guest panellist.
Whitehall discussed the fact that there was a hotel named after him in Indonesia such was his worldwide appeal.
"The Stevie G Hotel," he said. "I tried to book a room there and they were fully booked.
"So I had to stay at one down the road that wasn't nearly as good. It's called the Hotel Jordan Henderson."
What aged worse the haircut or the joke? Congratulations @JHenderson and @LFC well deserved. The Hotel Jordan Henderson is 5 star! pic.twitter.com/pjZOuA7WWr

Gerrard didn't seem happy with the joke at the time and was seen to be slightly annoyed on Henderson's behalf.
Whitehall has changed his mind on the joke, tweeting:
"What aged worse the haircut or the joke? Congratulations @JHenderson and @LFC well deserved. The Hotel Jordan Henderson is 5 star!"
Henderson won the Player of the Year award even though second-placed Kevin De Bruyne was easily robbed of the award. The Belgian has had a remarkable season with 11 goals and 18 assists to his name in the Premier League.
Manchester City manager rightfully pointed out that a Liverpool player would win the award because they won the League, but when his team won the league twice, Mohamed Salah and Virgil Van Dijk of Liverpool won the awards.

“The winner will be from Liverpool. When we won the Premier League the Liverpool players won. When they win the League, I'm pretty sure they are going to win the Player of the Season. These awards are always for Liverpool.” pic.twitter.com/kAljI43C0U
