According to reports, the initial offer United submitted was €80m with various add-ons that would take the deal up to €100m.
Dortmund had previously set a 10th August deadline for United to sign Sancho, who has been Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's No 1 target this summer.
Sancho, 20, has not travelled with Dortmund for their DFL-Supercup showdown with fierce rivals Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday.
Dortmund tweeted out that the England international has a respiratory infection, but he tested negative for coronavirus on Monday.

Additionally, both players tested negatively for COVID-19 yesterday.
Dortmund captain Marco Reus squashed the idea that Sancho would leave for Old Trafford by insisting that his teammate will stay for at least one more season.
The 31-year-old Germany international told Sky Sports: "We all were happy that he will be with us for one more year because he delivers assists and goals, so we get points.
"If he gets as big as [Lionel] Messi or [Cristiano] Ronaldo, we will see.
"He needs time, experience and it will be important how he manages the times when things don't go so well. But he has the confidence and the quality."
🗣"For us it is very good that he stays one more year!"
