Manchester United are running out of time to salvage a transfer window that isn't looking too good so far but if they do miss out on Jadon Sancho, and any other targets, it won't be the first time.
Sir Alex Ferguson retired as manager of United in 2013 but he wasn't the only influential figure to leave Old Trafford that summer, with chief executive David Gill, the man in charge of transfer deals, also leaving.
He was replaced by Ed Woodward, and the 48-year-old has been at the centre of some of the harshest criticism from the club's fans since, even having his house attacked with fireworks from some fans.
Whilst United fans wait for more signings this summer, with only Donny van de Beek brought in so far, it's not the first time Woodward has failed to deliver, and the list of players the club have wanted to sign but missed out on is shocking:

The first summer of Woodward's tenure, with Fergie gone and replaced by David Moyes, the club tried to make some very high profile signings.
Ferguson had all but brought Ronaldo back to Old Trafford but the change of manager saw the five time Ballon d'Or winner decide to stay in Madrid.
Instead United went for Bale but he had his heart set on the Spanish capital so joined Ronaldo at the Bernabeu, whilst David Moyes decided he wanted Marouane Fellaini instead of Thiago, who went to Bayern Munich.
Both Bale and Thiago are now moving to the Premier League this summer but neither is headed for Old Trafford, with the Welshman going back to Spurs and Thiago going to champions Liverpool.
If Woodward can't get Sancho this summer, or an alternative, then it could be a long season for fans of Solskjaer's team and the manager too.
