Manchester City star Sergio Aguero is expected to 'make way' for Lionel Messi's arrival next summer, according to stunning reports.
But Messi, who is out of contract next summer, remained at the Camp Nou for another season after refusing to take Barcelona to court over his disputed release clause.
The Daily Mirror now reports that City won't 'put up a fight' over Aguero's future as he is now in the final year of his contract at the Etihad.
According to Calciomercato, Inter Milan are keen to snap up the 32-year-old Argentine striker on a two-year deal.
Antonio Conte has already reinforced his squad options with the arrivals of Christian Eriksen, Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez from the Premier League.
And now the Inter boss is keen on luring Aguero to the San Siro as his side attempt to dethrone Juventus from their dominant reign over Italian football.
Aguero, who was signed from Atletico Madrid in 2011, has made over 250 appearances for City and is the club's all-time record scorer.
City chief Omar Berrada has hinted that the Premier League club could pounce at the opportunity to sign Messi next summer should he become a free agent.
"He's an amazing talent, he's somebody that can make a significant impact at any club in the world on and off the pitch immediately," he told the Manchester Evening News.
"He's the best player in the world, he's the best player of his generation. I think any club in the world would like to explore the possibility of him joining their team.
"The fact that it was commented that he wanted to come to play for City just shows you how far the team has come over the last [few] years where the best talent of his generation and potentially saying he wants to come and play for us.
"It's hard to guess what could happen. If you think back to those two weeks where everything played out at Barcelona, it's almost impossible to guess what will happen next summer."
