Football fans have exchanged a war of words in a heated social media debate over who was better in their prime out of Yaya Toure and Patrick Vieira.
The Ivorian lifted three Premier League titles, two League Cups and an FA Cup during his eight years at the Etihad.
Toure's fine form also carried over to international level with Ivory Coast as he was named African Footballer of the Year for four consecutive years.
Vieira, meanwhile, established a legendary reputation at the heart of Arsenal's midfield and for his memorable battles with Manchester United legend Roy Keane.
The 44-year-old Frenchman enjoyed a prolific career and captained Arsenal during their remarkable 2003-04 'Invincibles' season.
Vieira captured three Premier League titles and four FA Cups before he left Arsenal in 2005 for Juventus.

During their prime, who was better? 🤔 #SaturdaySocial
Sky Sports tweeted out a poll asking fans who was the best out of their prime between former City star Toure and Arsenal hero Vieira.
With 34,000 votes cast at the time of this writing, Vieira has secured the lion's share of the vote with 64.2 per cent.
Toure might only have 35.8 per cent of the vote, but that doesn't mean fans aren't deeply divided in the debate.
"LOL, Vieira isn't fit to lace Yaya's shoes," one fan posted.
While another argued: "Yaya was simply the best. Vieira doesn't even come close."
A third tweeted: "Yaya Toure [is] clear of Viera, nostalgia is blinding people here. Yaya Toure had one of the best midfield seasons we've ever seen in the Prem."
Someone else added: "Yaya Toure was an absolute beast [sic] how can he be compared to Vieira FFS."
And a fifth fan wrote: "How can someone even put Yaya Toure in the same breathe [sic] as Viera, it [is] not even close. Viera won at the top level for club and country."
I love Yaya to the moon and back, but Vieira was special. Look what happened to Arsenal after he left.

Yaya 13/14 the greatest ever season by any Prem midfielder. But over all career and all round game hard to argue with Viera.

Toure is a baller certified but Vieira had everything! pic.twitter.com/Y9JTlayUuY

As an African, it's good to see the respect Yaya is getting because he was an absolute baller.

But when we talk of class and impact, Viera is on top for me. He was the pivot in Arsenal's midfield both as a player and captain. He led Arsenal to an undefeated season in 2003/2004
If you’re talking out and out prime and at the absolute height of their careers then Toure obliterates most midfielders. Vieira was consistently the better performer for longer though.

Yaya had one season where he was world class. Let's not forget he was kept out of the Barca XI by Busquets. Vieira was consistently one of the best central midfielders to grace the game. The man had everything. Yaya was a beast but Vieira was consistently brilliant.

@JohnnyCarey85 there’s actually people saying yaya toure was better than vieira 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Nostalgia is the only rationale for putting a Vieira ahead of Yaya. Yaya’s titles and medals don’t even begin to tell the story of how crucial he was and how many big moments he created.
