Marcus Rashford is more than just a footballer.

And as every day passes, he keeps proving that theory correct.

Fresh off the back of his school meals campaign, the Manchester United fan favourite has now launched a children's book club.

The 23-year-old, who was recently awarded an OBE, has teamed up with publishers Macmillan and says he hopes to spread the joy of reading and literacy.

"I only started reading at 17, and it completely changed my outlook and mentality," Rashford said.

"I just wish I was offered the opportunity to really engage with reading more as a child, but books were never a thing we could budget for as a family when we needed to put food on the table.

"There were times where the escapism of reading could have really helped me. I want this escapism for all children. Not just those that can afford it. We know there are over 380,000 children across the UK today that have never owned a book, children that are in vulnerable environments."

It's understood Rashford also plans on releasing his own children's book.

The non-fiction read aimed at kids aged 11-16 will touch on important topics of male and female role models, the value of education and positive mindsets.

And he won't stop there.

Rashford also hopes to release two fiction books for readers aged seven upwards by the end of 2021 too.

What a guy.
