'Chelsea Make Erling Haaland Their Top Transfer Target

Chelsea are the latest club to join the race to sign Erling Haaland, with Frank Lampard reportedly making the Borussia Dortmund striker his top target.

Haaland is one of the best strikers in the world already, despite being just 20-years-old and has played less than a full season in one of Europe's top five leagues.

However, despite signing for Dortmund earlier this year, the continents major clubs are all circling the Norwegian striker and are ready to swoop for him.

According to Sky Italia, via the Mirror, Chelsea are the latest side to show real interest in the forward and Frank Lampard has made the former Red Bull Salzburg player his number one summer target, asking club chiefs to sign the player.

Haaland has 33 goals in 32 appearances in all competitions for Dortmund, since moving to the Bundesliga in the January transfer market.

This season he has netted 10 times in eight appearances in the league and six in four in the Champions League, before a hamstring injury in December.

He has shown no signs of slowing down since jumping up in quality after moving from Salzburg and it's no surprise the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid have been heavily linked with him in the past.

United tried to sign him earlier this year, before his move to Dortmund, but the club were unsure on the player's release clause and the fee for agent Mino Raiola, who they've had to deal with when it comes to Paul Pogba, and he decided to move to Dortmund anyway.

Haaland can move for just €75 million because of his release clause but it is reportedly can't be activated until summer 2022.

Lampard's desire to add another forward to his side may come down to the fact that his summer signing of Timo Werner hasn't quite worked out how he planned so far.

The £47.5million signing has scored only four goals in 14 appearances in the league so far and the 24-year-old is without a goal in his past nine games in all competitions.

Kai Havertz, who can play as a forward or in midfield, also hasn't hit the ground running since his move from Bayer Leverkusen. The 21-year-old has just one goal and one assist in 12 league appearances.

Tammy Abraham has been the Blues most effective striker in the Premier League so far this season with five goals.

Chelsea could move for Haaland but they definitely won't be the only ones.
