Liverpool transfer round-up: Mbappe reveals what will influence transfer decision

Liverpool fans are waiting to discover whether Jurgen Klopp will sign reinforcements in the January transfer window to ease the current injury crisis.

The Reds have been rocked by another knee injury after Diogo Jota was ruled out for for up to two months.

But it's in defence where Klopp's side are really depleted, and it remains to be seen whether the manager will target another centre-back next month with Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez both out for the long term.

Speculation is also rife about the future of Kylian Mbappe, with the Liverpool target about to enter the final 18 months of his Paris-Saint Germain deal.

Sunday's transfer round-up features an update on Mbappe, plus the latest on how Liverpool plan to plug the gaps in their defence amid the injuries to Van Dijk and Gomez.

Liverpool target Kylian Mbappe will only leave Paris-Saint Germain if his parents think it's a good idea.

Mbappe is coveted by both the Reds and Real Madrid, with his PSG contract set to expire in 2022.

But the 21-year-old France star says he has to have his family's full backing before making a decision about his future.

“We make every decision together, as a family," Mbappe told Copa 90. "I think it's the strongest possible thing.

“This has pushed me higher and allowed me to be where I am today.

“Without them, it would be impossible, because sometimes you have bad moments. When you have bad moments in your career, you can see which people are there for you, and my parents are there for me every time.

“Without them, I don't think I would have everything I do at the moment. They show me the right way to be and I'm really lucky to have these parents.”
