Thiago Alcantara's clever free-kick routine isn't having the same impact at Liverpool as it did at Bayern Munich.
Thiago caught Red Star Belgrade players by complete surprise by simply lofting the ball straight into the path of Thomas Muller, who fired past Milan Borjan with a superb first-time strike.
Become the record Champions League appearance maker for Bayern ✅

The former Bayern Munich star tried the same tactic during Liverpool's shock 1-0 defeat to Brighton at Anfield on Wednesday.
Thiago pulled off his exquisite chip straight into the path of Roberto Firmino, but the Liverpool forward hesitated in pulling the trigger first time.
Brighton defender Adam Webster managed to track back in time and cleared the ball before Firmino even had the chance to shoot.
The two Thiago free-kick routines were uploaded to TikTok and the footage has since made the rounds on Twitter.

this pissed me off so much during the game. Firmino is so frustrating at times man he just has literally no clinical edge to him, never looks like a striker when he gets a chance.

If that was Salah there you know for a fact he’s taking the shot straight away.
"Typical Firmino letting the ball run rather than just smashing it towards goal," one Twitter user responded.
A second tweeted: "I still don't know why he let it bounce and didn't shoot it first time."
Someone else pointed out: "Bobby needed to hit it on the volley with his left foot. He let it bounce giving [the] defender [a] chance to clear."
And a fourth added: "Yeah, I really don't understand how we didn't score from that, like just swing your leg at it Bobby."
Liverpool spent £20m last September to sign Thiago from Bayern Munich on a four-year deal.
